6 Amazing Superhuman Feats of Baba Deep Singh Ji

By  |

Baba Deep Singh Ji’s parents were very hard working farmers in Amritsar, India. They always wish to have one child but had not been blessed with any for 20 years.
A Sikh saint told them to not be disheartened, one day a special child will be born in your home and you should name him Deep (meaning one who gives light). Baba Deep Singh Ji was born to them on January 26, 1682.

When Baba Deep Singh Ji was 12 years old, he traveled to Anandpur Sahib with his parents to meet Guru Gobind Singh Ji (Tenth Sikh Guru). From there onwards, the journey of Baba Deep Singh Ji started and he is remembered for his loyalties to the teachings of the Sikh Guru’s and sacrificed his life to serve an example for all Sikhs on how to live and die with Dignity and Glory.

Baba Deep Singh possesses 6 amazing superhuman feats than the average human being.

Anokhe Amar Baba deep singh ji shaheed (www.sikhprofessionals.net)

Here is the list of 6 amazing superhuman feats of Baba Deep Singh Ji’s

1. Baba Deep Singh Ji fought with the double-edged sword of 32lbs (15+ Kilograms). Although Baba Deep Singh Ji was ~75 years old, but he carries the strength of a young warrior. Was it Normal to carry and fight with such a heavy sword? Which we all understand, is not! Baba Deep Singh Ji was indeed a saint, and he did possess a superhuman strength and could wield this heavy sword. I strongly believe we would not be able to wield such a weapon in the battle for long!!

 2. Baba Deep Singh Ji was a master of many languages including Gurumukhi, Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic and several other languages. While at Anandpur Sahib, he immersed himself in his studies of Sikh philosophy and the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book of scriptures. It is difficult for us to master a single language even though we learn it from childhood.

3. Guru Gobind Singh Ji also taught him the art of horsemanship, hunting, arms training and the use of the bow (archery) and other weapons. At the age of 20, he becomes the bravest warrior. Even today, his life serves as an example for each one of us on how to live.

4. Baba Deep Singh Ji hand wrote many copies of Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Gobind Singh Ji recited the entire Guru Granth Sahib while Baba Deep Singh Ji and Bhai Mani Singh Ji wrote out the text and distributes it to Sikhs. After its completion, Baba Deep Singh Ji continued, for several years; to hand write four additional copies of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. These four copies were handed over to Akal Takht Sahib, Takht Patna Sahib, Takht Hazur Sahib and Takht Anandpur Sahib. Later he writes another copy of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Arabic script and sent it to the Middle East.

5. Baba Deep Singh Ji fight Beheaded. In the second engagement with Jahan Khan Forces near the village of Goharwal, Baba Deep Singh Ji and all the Sikhs fought with great valor and courage that the enemy was almost defeated but soon after large army of reinforcements arrived for Jahan Khan’s men but Baba Ji and Sikhs continue fighting and advanced towards Amritsar.

During the clash, both Jahan Khan and Baba Ji swung their weapons with great force, leaving both of their heads separated from their bodies. One of the Sikh reminded him of the vowed to die in the precincts of the Golden Temple. He kept his promise by continuing after picking up his head and carrying it on his palm, whilst continuing to fight, reached the periphery of Harimander Sahib where he breathed his last.

Those who wish to play the game of love (to follow the Sikh path), come to me with your head in your palm.

ਇਤੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪੈਰੁ ਧਰੀਜੈ ॥ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਾਣਿ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੨੦॥
If you wish your feet to travel this path, don’t delay in accepting to give your head.

He is also known as Anokhe Amar Shaheed Baba Deep Singh ji. Only someone with spiritual strength could accomplish such a task.

6. Baba Deep Singh Ji killed Wazir Khan who was responsible for Guru Gobind Singh Ji younger Son’s Shaheedi. In about 1709, Baba Deep Singh Ji along with Banda Singh Bahadur killed the Wazir Khan who was responsible for the martyr of Guru Gobind Singh ji Younger Son’s. Although the Muslim army outnumbered the Sikhs significantly, but the Sikh army was able to easily defeat the Muslim forces. By killing the Wazir Khan, the chapter of tyranny of this Mughal leader was closed.

Bab Deep Singh Ji was a Gursikh who devoted his life to promote Sikh Values. He was so blessed to have had company of Guru Ji from young age. Yes he hand wrote Guru Granth Sahib with Bhai Mani Singh Ji ; as dictated by Guru Ji. Yes he was a great Warior and fought in wars for the Just Cause. BUT to say that ” he picked his head once totally removed from his body & continued fighting” is the biggest insult to teachings of Guru Ji. He was seriously injured & yet continued fighting as he reached outskirts of Harminder Sahib. Please correct this misconception as told by FALSE BABAS . Please let Baba Deep Singh Ji be a True Gursikh ; a very rare number of people obtained that status. Gurfateh Ji x

Thanks Kuldeep Veerji for your valuable comment. You have touched the very controvertial part of the discussion. In my opinion, Yes you are absolutely right, baba deep singh was mortally wounded with a deep cut to his head. He took the support of his left hand to hold his head & removing the enemies from his way with the strokes of his double-edged sword with his right hand and reached the Harmindar Sahib where he breathed his last.
While this seems to be a false story where Baba deep singh ji was fighting with his head in one hand and his sword in the other. And as you correctly pointed that it is a big contrary to the Sikh teachings.

Here is the link to the wikipedia where two version of Baba deep singh Ji story was highlighted:
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baba_Deep_Singh

But it is a saddened fact, even at Harminder Sahib, baba deep singh ji Picture showing his head in one hand and sword in the other.
Is it the leaders of Sikhi promote this kind of untrue fact to fool the ignorant people ?
      What’s your opinion about that?

i share the sentiments expressed in the above comments
we tend to exaggerate this episode and many other parts of the sikh history which in fact offend the credibility/sensibility

I am a sikh doctor, understand dynamics and limits of ‘we’ as humans, being sikh, always try to understand the limitless spirituality.

On a personal note, it brings me no suprise babaji fighting with head in one hand, this fact does not (Again in my perspective) depict anti-gurmat message but values the strength of spirituality.

In a similar manner, believing rebirth and reincarnations may appear out-of-world thought but in coherence to the core principles of sikhi.

Mostly today peoples are without the knowledge of suoer power and just talk. Jassa singh ahluwalia was wounded in Ghalughara how many times?
why Aurangzeb kept BabaRam Rai with him and allowed a jagir.
why Baba Atal rai Sahib left his body. These all things are for those who keep sprirual power and not for simple human being.
I spent my childhood with Sant Baba Shahbeg singh ji and he told me my future and age also.Do you know every thing is going as baba ji told.

You know that in Chamkor war only 40 sikhs were againt 1000000 Mughal soldiers and every times guru ji sent only five sikhs to fight against this crowd od one million. Here it is clear that one sikh wás fighting with 200000 but not with 125000.
Mostly sikhs are either illiterate or without spritual knowldge.

But if we believe a deep cut on the head of Baba Deep Singh ji even then it is not possible to fight and travel the distance of almost 6 Kms. Gohalwad where he was beheaded almost six Kms away from Amritsar. So with deep wound or cut on head and bleeding one can’t fight for a long time. Even if you walk at a very swift speed, it requires at least one hour to travel a distance of 6kms. So I believe that yes Baba Deep singh ji possesses super natural power otherwise it is hard to fight with such vigour and that too when he had serous head injury…
I don’t remember the link about this fight but read some where else that in the battle of Gohalwad a Sikh worrier fight for a considerable long time with severed head. I can’t authenticate it but trying hard to get references of this battle from non Sikh sources…

Dhan Dhan Baba Deep Singh Sahib Ji. The major problem we are facing in india now is that people are not willing to believe this truth about baba deep singh shahidi but there are willing to take advice from babas that don’t have any powers but give something with some instructions on how to use with false promises that there problems can be solved. Arvinder the next thing you will is that baba deep can not write 4 copiez of shi guru granth sahib and 1 in arabic. Than you will guru gobind singh ji maharaj can not dictate shri guru granth sahib ji as what we know from our history. Shame on people like you Arvinder. Grow up.

i am in deep illusion, Guru Gobind singh ji said ” Savva lakh sai ek laddaou” now my question is very simple practically this can’t be possible (1 = 125000)
so why guru ji said just for once i consider this true so in our history i never seen a One man who fought with 125000 in real.

i am diminishing guru ji’s words but practically how?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh II

Thank you so much for this great article, Puneet Veerji. I learned a lot. However you should always defend the truth and not cave in, no matter what the cost, against those who cannot comprehend or try to undermine our incredible history.

I am very surprised and saddened by the belief of Kuldeep Singh. Veerji your basis is due to your mind’s thinking which cannot understand and not based on history or spirituality. This act of Baba Ji was no insult to Guru Sahib’s teachings. Your understanding is incomplete.

These MISCONCEPTIONS as you claim preached by FALSE BABAs. You could not be more totally wrong. This is well known HISTORY preached by the SAINTS. True Saints such as Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Bhindranwale. Who are you to question the teachings of the Saints? Do you know more?

Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Bow had a draw strength of almost 500 lbs and shot arrows many times to distances of over 8 kilometers. Is this also against Guru Sahib’s teachings, an impossible fairy tale according to your mind? All Guru Sahibs bodies vanished during their cremation ceremonies – Guru Gobind Singh Ji went into a tent with Neela and disappeared. Is this against the Gurus teachings? Obviously not.

This is the Supernatural Power of God shown to give us faith. Baba Deep Singh Ji did not perform this miraculous act to please or appease some person – it was done only to keep their promise and nothing else. Your word is your bond. Especially so with Saints, because whatever they say must be fulfilled.

Baba Ji wielded a sword which is on display at Gurdwara today which weighs 33 lbs. A PROVEN FACT. Sadly it is people like you Kuldeep Veerji, who create doubt and lack of faith in others. We have come to expect this from other governments and religions trying to undermine Sikh History – but it is most sad when it happens from other Sikhs.

Any Sikh who is aware of history, knows WITHOUT QUESTION that Baba Deep Singh Ji carried their fully severed head on the palm of their hand while continuing to fight. The mughals were so terrified that they fled in sheer terror upon witnessing this sight.

Harjee Veerji, in answer to your question, Guru Gobind Singh Ji were known as Dusht Daman is their previous life and killed 125,000 demons at one time during a fierce battle with the demon Raktavij.

During the battle of Chamkaur Sahib as Guru Gobind Singh Ji (according to history at Gurdwara Tari Sahib) there was a total combined force of the Mughal Army in India plus the Hills Rajas and others that totaled 4 million troops. Only 2 million could surround Chamkaur Sahib directly, while the other 2 million remained close behind in reserve. This shows how afraid the Mughals and Hindus were of the power and prestige of Guru Sahib.

If you do the math, 4,000,000 divided by 40 Sikhs = 1 to 100,000 exactly. In Punjabi terms it is an act of bravado and courage to say an extra sava (quarter more) can be taken on as well. So, that is how you get 1 Sikh can take on 125,000.

Guru Sahib showed how 40 Sikhs can taken on 4,000,000 and win the battle. Each of the groups of 5 Sikhs that bounded out of the gates of Chamkaur Sahib (like the Helms Deep ending from the Lord of The Rings movies) fought for approximately 2 hours each and caused heavy losses for the Mughal and Hindu armies. The Sikhs owned a semi-circle perimeter of approximately 100 feet from the front gate of Chamkaur Sahib that no Mughal dared to cross. The young Baba Jughar Singh Ji full of Bir Ras would stare down and dare the Mughals to cross this line which the small band of Sikhs had claimed as their territory. Such was the courage and conviction of the Khalsa.

There are endless examples of miracles performed by Guru Sahibs…

Also, just wanted to add that Guru Gobind Singh Ji openly beheaded the Panj Pyare on a stage, in front of a crowd of 1 MILLION Sikhs (according to Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji Bhindranwale). Then afterwards, lovingly placed each body in their lap and sewed the holy heads back onto their bodies and brought them back to life. These facts were also documented by a Mughal Spy sent to witness the event, who afterwards repented to Maharaj Ji, took amrit and became Khalsa. Was this incredible miracle of beheading 5 Sikhs and then bringing them back to life also against Guru Sahib’s teachings Kuldeep Veerji?

Unless your mind cannot handle the truth once again, and you prefer to promote the false story taught to undermined Sikh History that Guru Gobind Singh Ji went into a tent and tried to trick the sangat by beheading some goats and using their blood to mislead the Sikhs. (Guru Sahib is all powerful and does not need to trick anyone).

Well, our tenth guru never stated anything about winning though.. At chamkaur ki garhi, sikh were outnumbered.. So he sent out a batch of 5 sikhs to face the 12 lakh strong mughal army.. So to instil more valour in the sikhs, he stated ‘sawa lakh se ek ladau’ verse.

I thought it was 40 hungry, run away Sikh’s fighting against 1 Million men army, now the number has gone up to 4 Million!? Wow! I wonder if there ever was an empire in the history of India who had a 4 Million men army? Mughal Kind must be childish to bring 4 Million soldiers to capture 40 hungry Sikh’s! Baba Deep Singh fighting with his head on his hand? Thought Sikh do not believe in superstations? Guru Gobind Singh firing an arrow that travels 8 km’s?

If Guinness Book of records where around, all the Sikh gurus would be a record breaker!
What else has been exaggerated to big-up Sikhi? I wonder.

There will always be controversies in every faith. Be it Hinduism, Christianity, Sikhism, Protestants or what have you. The real account of each and every event is known to those who were there at THAT period in time. Sometimes events change as it is passed down from time. However, for us to argue about this and that will never end, it is human nature to debunk events which they believe themselves to be too remarkable. However, just regular everyday people sometimes are proven to exhibit remarkable qualities during trying times, so who are we to judge what such spiritual beings could have accomplished during a time when the adrenalin is pumping full force? And please, if you want to leave a comment doubting anything from a faith, don’t be SO absurdly rude and cynical (Truth Seeker).

    Nice article. Blessings.

    • Rajpartap Singh

      April 26, 2017 at 12:19 am

Yes, Ripudaman Kaur Ji you are right. There are always controversies in all faiths, however, the real, detailed historical accounts of what happened are only known by the Saints and enlightened souls who can see and hear everything from history in their mind’s eye by way of the activated and opened Third Eye or Pineal Gland.

But sadly, people such as Truth Seeker, who is obviously not a Sikh and definitely not a seeker of the truth, have only arrived at this forum to mock the Guru Sahib’s, the Saints, and Sikh history in general. This must not be allowed. The only thing they accomplish is displaying their sheer disrespect, ignorance, arrogance and animosity towards Sikhism. They offer no contrary information or anything positive whatsoever. I would recommend that people such as Truth Seeker educate themselves before writing hateful and insulting words intended only to cause discord.

I would suggest researching history with an open mind if possible, looking into the Akashic Records, the 18 Spiritual Powers gained through meditation, and reading the countless miracles performed by all prophets and saints in all religions. I suppose you don’t believe that Moses parted the Red Sea, or Lord Jesus was resurrected after 3 days either.

The translation or information from Gurdwara Tari Sahib (of 4 million total combined force) may be incorrect, however we know from Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Zafarnama there was at minimum an army of 1 million Mughals surrounding Chamkaur Sahib against 40 Sikhs, which absolutely sets the clear Guinness Record as you challenged. And yes, of course if Guinness Records were around as you put it, the Guru Sahib’s could break every single record. But completely worldly people who put their belief and faith in such worldly records cannot possibly understand spirituality or the supernatural.

The Guru Sahib’s and true Sikh Saint-Soldiers (Khalsa) performed countless supernatural feats because they were not bound by the physical but became the spirit. The spirit is beyond time and space. They were the real Superheroes with real Superpowers. But you seem to only believe what you are told by your TV and western science.

Here’s something that is not exaggerated as you put it. Where it not for Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the absolute victories of the Khalsa against impossible odds over 300 years ago which expelled all Mughal Rule and oppression – India and indeed most of Asia today would be Muslim countries.
